Role Overview
Protect Democracy is seeking a Chief Impact Officer (CIO) to lead and integrate the organization’s national pro-democracy strategy across litigation, advocacy, communications, research, technology, and coalition-building. The CIO serves as the senior programmatic leader, reporting directly to the Executive Director and overseeing a large, multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities (Summary)

Lead and unify organization-wide impact strategy across legal, policy, tech, and narrative work.

Supervise senior program directors and guide high-impact initiatives.

Ensure cross-team coordination, operational alignment, and strategic clarity.

Represent Protect Democracy publicly and build relationships across the pro-democracy field.

Continuously assess organizational capacity and optimize structures and workflows for maximum impact.
